The Bone & Joint Journal (BJJ) is owned and published by The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery, a registered charity (No. 209299). The Society was established with the object of: 'The advancement and improvement of education in orthopaedic surgery and allied branches of surgery and the diffusion of knowledge of new and improved methods of teaching and practising orthopaedic surgery in all its branches'. As part of our charitable remit, The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery supports several orthopaedic fellowships with financial donations. These include the ABC fellowship, the Mark Paterson Travelling Fellowship (an initiative with EFORT), and the Indian Orthopaedic Society fellowship in conjunction with the British Orthopaedic Trainee Association. The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery [Br] was first published in February 1948 and shared the title The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery with the American Volume of JBJS. The two volumes were editorially and financially independent. If you are interested in a detailed history of The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery [Br] and the many great names associated with the journal, listen to our podcast on the subject by Frank Horan.
